Open the demo ↗Routeless Go is one website for $99 a month, and you can preview three designs free. Squarespace is a broader website builder. Its pages list Blueprint AI, direct layout editing, templates, blogging, forms, analytics, ecommerce, memberships, and payments. To decide, list what your site has to do. Then compare total cost, design control, and what you'd have to move if you changed platforms.
We make Go and wrote this comparison, so keep that in mind. Go has no setup fee. Buying and renewing a domain costs extra. Custom booking, payments, portals, integrations, large migrations, and bespoke design are custom work, scoped separately.
Squarespace's pricing and AI website builder pages describe a 14-day free trial, Blueprint AI, responsive layouts, direct editing, web hosting, and business tools that depend on the plan. Which tools you get, AI credits, contributor access, commerce tools, transaction fees, and payment rates can vary by plan and location.
Squarespace's AI website builder page says Blueprint AI turns a description into a personalized multi-page starting point, with copy, images, colors, and fonts. You then edit in the Squarespace editor by dragging, dropping, resizing, and rearranging, with optional AI help. You need a paid website plan to make the site public.
In your Go preview, open each of the three designs and check that every page, service, business detail, image, and call to action you need is there. Ask us to show you how changes are made and to point out anything that would need separately scoped work.
We wrote this from documentation. We didn't use both editors hands-on, so we don't rate speed, design quality, ease of use, accuracy, or reliability. Give both products the same written description of your business. Then compare the pages you get, the account controls, how the site looks on a phone, and what you'd still have to do.
Use the same business details, pages, original text, images, forms, and calls to action in both.
Fix a business detail, add a service page, swap an image, change a section, and check the phone view.
For each task, note the plan, AI credits, contributors, commerce fees, code access, storage, and export options it needs.
Go's entries come from its public offer: price, preview, setup, domain, cancellation, and custom work. Squarespace's entries on Blueprint AI, the editor, pricing, forms, analytics, commerce, domains, and export come from its product and Help Center pages. We checked all of them on September 28, 2026.
The table lists what each company says is available and doesn't measure how well it works. In your Go preview or Squarespace account, check the plan, controls, AI credits, country, payment provider, fees, data access, and export options your business needs.
| Task or term | Routeless Go | Squarespace | What to verify | Checked |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AI website creation | Preview three designs without a card | Use Blueprint AI during a 14-day trial without a card | Required pages, original content, image rights, mobile layout, AI credits, and the paid plan needed for a custom domain | 2026-09-28 |
| Editing and customization | Use the three-design preview to confirm the layout; bespoke design is custom work | Direct drag-and-drop editing plus optional AI assistance is documented | Who can edit, contributor permissions, mobile controls, template limits, code features, and the exact change process | 2026-09-28 |
| Forms, analytics, and SEO | Ask Routeless to show the exact form, reporting, and search controls available in your account | Forms, traffic metrics, and contact management are documented on current plans | Form fields, routing, retention, consent, traffic metrics, redirects, metadata, sitemap controls, and data export | 2026-09-28 |
| Ecommerce and memberships | Custom payments and portals are outside included Go scope | Squarespace documents products, services, invoices, memberships, and payments with plan-specific terms | Product limits, payment provider, processing fees, transaction fees, tax, shipping, subscriptions, and customer export | 2026-09-28 |
| Domain | Purchase and renewal are separate | Annual website plans include an eligible first-year domain; Squarespace documents transfer away | Eligibility, registrant name, renewal price, DNS access, authorization code, and transfer restrictions | 2026-09-28 |
| Ownership and site portability | Ask Routeless what content and records you can retrieve from your account | Squarespace documents selected content and data exports, not a portable copy of the full layout and design | Exportable text, media, products, contacts, members, URLs, and the work required to rebuild forms and workflows | 2026-09-28 |
Go is $99 per month for each published website, or $1,188 over 12 monthly payments. Domain charges, taxes, and custom work are extra. When we checked, Squarespace Basic showed $19 per month on an annual term or $25 month to month. Compare the plan that covers what you need, not just the cheapest subscription.
At those prices, Basic costs $228 for an annual term, billed under Squarespace's terms, or $300 over 12 monthly payments. Taxes and connected services are extra. An eligible annual website plan includes one year of domain registration, then renews at the standard rate.
The Squarespace plan you need can change with contributors, code features, AI credits, ecommerce tools, memberships, transaction fees, and payment rates. Add email campaigns, scheduling, extensions, domain renewal, and processing costs if they apply. For Go, add your registrar's charges and a written quote for anything outside the standard subscription.
| Cost item | Routeless Go | Squarespace Basic as checked |
|---|---|---|
| Website subscription | $99 monthly; $1,188 over 12 months | $19 per month on an annual term, or $25 month to month, as checked September 28, 2026 |
| Trial or preview | Three-design preview without a card | 14-day trial without a card |
| Domain | Purchase and renewal separate | An eligible annual website plan includes first-year registration; confirm eligibility and the later renewal price |
| Sales costs | Custom payments are outside included scope | Payment processing and some transaction fees apply by plan and type of sale |
| Advanced requirements | Custom work quoted separately | Plan tier and connected services can change the total |
Squarespace makes sense if you need direct layout editing, template customization, a portfolio, blogging tools, an online store, memberships, contributor access, or Squarespace integrations. Make sure one Squarespace plan you can afford covers the AI credits, code features, commerce terms, transaction fees, and payment provider you need.
Try a Go preview if you need a business website and the $99 monthly price works for you. Check the pages, business details, images, calls to action, and how it looks on a phone. For commerce, scheduling, portals, integrations, large migrations, or bespoke design, ask for a written scope.
Turn each requirement into a yes-or-no question. Who updates the website? How do leads reach you? Which SEO controls are there? Does the site sell products or memberships? Can you export contacts and content? Who owns the domain name? What can you still get to after you cancel? Get answers from both before you decide.
Moving your Squarespace domain and moving your Squarespace website are two separate jobs. Squarespace documents moving a domain it manages: you unlock it and get an authorization code. It also documents exporting some content and data. Its migration guidance says a whole site's layout, design, fonts, and other elements can't simply be imported somewhere else.
Don't count on an automatic Squarespace-to-Go import. A move may mean rebuilding the layout, copying your text, downloading original photos, recreating forms, replacing your store, memberships, or scheduling, and mapping old URLs. Ask us which work is included and which tools need a separate scope.
Export everything Squarespace supports while you still have account access. Also make your own list of page URLs, text, images, products, orders, contacts, members, forms, analytics, payment and scheduling settings, email records, and DNS. Keep the Squarespace site running until the new domain, redirects, forms, analytics, and the tools you rely on all work.
We publish this Routeless Go vs Squarespace comparison, and we sell Go. Go's price and offer terms come from the Routeless Go product page. Squarespace's prices, Blueprint AI, editing, trial, domain offer, analytics, forms, commerce, migration, export, and domain-transfer statements come from the Squarespace pages listed below, checked September 28, 2026.
We based this page on documentation. We didn't run the same tasks in both products, so we don't claim either editor is faster, easier, more reliable, or performs better. We also don't use customer ratings, output-quality scores, conversion results, or search rankings.
Plans and account controls can change after the date we checked. Use this page to build your requirements list. Then check the price, feature access, AI credits, transaction fees, data export, domain ownership, and what happens when you cancel, in your Go preview and your Squarespace account.
No, going by the base subscription prices checked September 28, 2026. Go is $99 monthly. Squarespace Basic showed $19 per month on an annual term or $25 month to month. The two cover different work, and plan upgrades, transaction fees, domains, custom work, and connected services can change the total.
Go is one monthly website price with three preview designs, and custom work is scoped separately. Squarespace is a broader builder with Blueprint AI, templates, direct layout editing, blogging, forms, analytics, ecommerce, memberships, and payments. In practice, it comes down to how much control you want over the site and over selling.
Yes. Squarespace's AI website builder page describes Blueprint AI, which builds a personalized multi-page starting point from a description. You can keep editing with direct layout controls and optional AI help. Check the current trial, AI credits, plan requirements, template controls, and content rights in your Squarespace account.
Squarespace documents moving a domain it manages: you unlock it and get an authorization code. Confirm the name on the registration, the registrar, DNS records, lock status, email settings, and any waiting period. Ask us for the exact steps to connect it to Go before you change nameservers or cancel your Squarespace plan.
Don't assume it will. Squarespace documents exporting some content and data, but not a portable copy of the full site design. Plan to list your pages and data, run the exports it supports, download original photos, rebuild, map old URLs, set redirects, and replace forms, your store, scheduling, or memberships separately.
Check the Squarespace plan, billing term, AI credits, forms, analytics, contributors, code features, ecommerce and membership fees, payment processing, products, contacts, media, content export, domain renewal, and transfer conditions. Also confirm what you can still reach after you cancel and how long each export takes.
Squarespace's pages list tools small businesses often use, including web hosting, templates, a drag-and-drop editor, forms, analytics, blogging, ecommerce, memberships, and custom domains. Whether it suits you depends on your plan, design needs, how you sell, fees, and what you need to export. Check each requirement in your account.
