Anthropic Claude API integration

Routeless Radar connects to Anthropic's Messages API and Claude web search to test how a brand appears in grounded answers. The integration sends market context when available, collects the answer and cited sources, records usage and timing, and separates provider errors from successful observations. Claude coverage is available on Radar's Growth plan.

Evidence boundary

What the implementation proves.

Radar contains a direct Anthropic Messages API provider with Claude web search, eligible location context, citation parsing, usage records, timing, estimated cost, and explicit failure handling.

The evidence supports Radar's API-based Claude measurement and Growth plan boundary. It does not claim consumer-app equivalence, guaranteed citation quality, Anthropic partnership, or fixed provider behavior.

Verified capabilities

  • Messages API requests with structured response parsing
  • Claude web search for current public sources
  • Location context for eligible market checks
  • Citation, token usage, timing, estimated cost, and failure records
Implemented workflows

How data moves through the integration.

Workflow 01

Run a grounded brand discovery check

Radar sends a buyer-style question to Claude with web search enabled, includes market context when available, and stores the answer with its returned sources.

Evidence: Radar contains a direct Claude provider and a public methodology for grounded AI visibility checks.

Workflow 02

Keep citations with the answer

The provider response is inspected for cited search results. Usable sources are normalized into titles and URLs that remain attached to the observation.

Evidence: Verified in Radar's Claude response parser and provider tests.

Workflow 03

Classify the provider run

Radar records request timing and usage. A successful response becomes an observation, while authentication, quota, timeout, or provider errors remain failed attempts.

Evidence: Verified in Radar's provider and orchestration layers.

Authentication and operations

Access, secrets, and recovery are part of the build.

Authentication model

The Anthropic API key stays in the server-side provider environment. It is not sent to the browser or written into public observation data.

Credential handling

Anthropic credentials remain server-side and are scoped to the provider process. Public records may contain the answer, citations, timing, and usage totals, but not the API key, private prompt controls, provider request identifiers, or exact cost rates.

Failure behavior

Radar distinguishes successful observations from authentication, quota, timeout, malformed-response, and provider failures. A failed Claude call is recorded for operations and does not become a successful visibility result.

Vendor and implementation constraints

Limits that affect the scope.

  • Claude is Growth coverageClaude is available on Radar's Growth plan, not in the base provider set.
  • The method uses the APIA grounded API response is evidence from that run. It does not reproduce every surface or personalization rule in the consumer Claude product.
  • Provider behavior can changeWeb search, source selection, model behavior, limits, availability, and pricing remain controlled by Anthropic.

Anthropic Claude integration FAQ

Questions that change the implementation.

Yes. Radar contains a direct Anthropic Messages API provider with web search, citation extraction, usage records, timing, and explicit error handling.

Yes. Radar enables Anthropic's web search tool for grounded Claude checks and stores the returned sources with the answer.

No. Radar reports the method used for each observation. An API run can measure grounded responses consistently, but it does not claim to duplicate every consumer product surface.

Claude is part of Radar Growth coverage. OpenAI, Gemini, and Perplexity are in the base provider set.

Yes. Radar passes market context when the check has an eligible location. The result reflects the provider's response to that context, not a guaranteed local ranking.
