An AI visibility report shows how often AI platforms like ChatGPT, Gemini, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews mention or recommend your business when people ask questions in your category, what those answers actually say, and which competitors appear instead of you. Ours is a genuinely free tool: about three minutes, full evidence — every question asked, every answer received, every source cited. Run it here.
This page explains what a good AI visibility report contains, how ours works under the hood, and how to read the results — including the parts most free checkers gloss over.
Why check your AI visibility at all?
Because the answers already exist, whether you've seen them or not. Every day, people ask AI assistants who to hire — and the assistants answer with names. AI search is absorbing discovery: 68% of US Google searches now end without a click (SparkToro, June 2026), ChatGPT serves roughly 900 million weekly users, and AI Overviews appear on about 30% of Google queries. Brand visibility in those answers isn't like a ranking — for a business where one customer is worth thousands, three outcomes are possible, and two of them cost you money:
- You're recommended. Good — now protect it.
- Competitors are recommended and you're absent. Invisible businesses don't get the call.
- You're mentioned, but described incorrectly. Wrong services, old address, "may be closed." This one quietly repeats across thousands of conversations.
You can't manage any of this without seeing it first. That's the entire purpose of a visibility report: replace guessing with evidence.
What the free Routeless Radar report includes
Enter your website at routeless.io/ai-visibility and the scan observes real AI answers over the next few minutes. The report you get:
- The result sentence. Plain English: "AI recommended [your business] in N of 9 observed answers." No cryptic score, just the observed rate.
- Per-assistant scoreboard. ChatGPT, Gemini, and Perplexity separately — visibility is rarely uniform across platforms, and the differences tell you where to work.
- Recommendation receipts. The signature section: every question we asked, whether you appeared, the full answer text, the sources the AI used, the exact AI model, and the timestamp. Click any receipt to expand it. No black box — you can verify every claim we make.
- Who gets recommended instead. Competitors ranked by how many times AI named them, so you know exactly who owns your market's answers today.
- What AI says about you. Verbatim quotes, no editorializing — including the errors worth fixing before customers hear them.
- Can AI understand your website? Technical checks: crawlability, structure, whether your content is machine-readable.
- Website experience. Mobile screenshot, PageSpeed results, and conversion signals — because getting recommended only pays if the click converts.
- Do these next. Up to three prioritized actions with DIY steps, plus a copy-paste starter llms.txt file.
- How we measured. Models used, dates, and honest limitations. Reports are shareable links, hidden from search indexing, and expire after 90 days.
No signup is required to see your results. Free scans are limited to three per day per IP, and repeat scans of the same domain within a week return the existing report.
What makes a visibility report trustworthy?
Having built one and studied the rest, here's the checklist we'd apply to anyone's — including ours:
- Shows the actual answers. A score without the underlying AI responses is unfalsifiable. Demand receipts.
- Asks realistic buyer questions. "Best [service] near me for [specific situation]" — not just "tell me about [brand]," which nobody types.
- Samples more than once. AI answers vary run to run. Single-shot checks produce both false alarms and false comfort; only repeated observation supports conclusions. Our free scan observes multiple answers per engine; paid tracking builds a 150-observation baseline with a 95% confidence range.
- Names competitors. Visibility is relative. "You appeared twice" means nothing without "your competitor appeared nine times."
- Separates platforms. Being strong in Perplexity and absent in ChatGPT is common and actionable — averaging them hides the story.
Most free AI visibility checkers from the big SEO suites track brand mentions at a national-brand level and check one or two of these boxes — they're built to demo enterprise dashboards, where platforms like ChatGPT are one line on a chart. Ours is built to give a local business an honest baseline. (We compare the whole landscape of checkers and tracking platforms, including where we're not the right fit, in best AI visibility tools.)
How to read your report (and what to do next)
If your recommendation rate is zero or near-zero: don't panic — this is the most common result we see for good businesses. Start with the "Can AI understand your website?" section and the three prioritized actions. Usually the causes are structural: answer-free service pages, inconsistent business data, thin third-party presence. The fixes are in how to get recommended by ChatGPT.
If competitors dominate: open their receipts and look at the cited sources. That's their playbook, documented — the directories, reviews, and coverage feeding their recommendations become your gap list.
If AI states something false about you: treat it as urgent. Fix the source (usually a stale profile or conflicting data), then re-check. Errors repeat until their source dies.
Either way, re-measure. One report is a snapshot. Improvement only shows up in trend — which is why the report links directly into weekly tracking ($49/mo Local) if you want the measurement handled continuously, with alerts when something material changes.
Frequently asked questions
How much does the AI visibility report cost?
Nothing. The scan and full report — receipts, competitors, technical checks, prioritized actions — are free, with no signup required to see results. Paid plans exist for ongoing weekly tracking, not for the baseline report. Limit: three free scans per IP per day.
How do you check my brand's visibility in ChatGPT?
We ask ChatGPT (and Gemini and Perplexity) the questions real customers ask about your service category and location, then record whether you're named, what's said, and which sources the answer cites. Every observation appears in your report with the model and timestamp attached.
How often should I check AI visibility?
For a baseline, once — then after any significant fix, and monthly at minimum if you're actively competing for AI recommendations. Answers drift as models update and competitors move. Weekly automated tracking with enough samples to smooth the noise is the honest cadence for a trend.
Does an AI visibility score affect my Google rankings?
No — a score is a measurement, not a signal. But the work that improves AI visibility (structured answers, consistent entity data, reviews, authoritative mentions) substantially overlaps with what improves organic rankings, so the two tend to rise together. See AEO vs SEO.
Can I track competitors in AI answers?
Yes. The free report automatically surfaces which competitors AI recommends in your market and how often. Paid tracking watches them weekly, so you see displacement — who's gaining recommendations at whose expense — rather than a one-time snapshot.
